Grandma Bernice's Butterscotch Cookies

Makes 3 dozen

Ingredients:
2 cups brown sugar (packed in cup)
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp cream of tarter
1 tsp soda
3 cups flour
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Cream together brown sugar, shortening, vanilla and eggs. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Shape dough into loaves about 2 to 2 1/2" and 10 to 12 inches long. Let set overnight in refrigerator.

When ready to bake cut dough into slices 1/2 to 3/4" thick and arrange on a cookie sheet. They will spread out as they bake. Cookies should bake at 350° F for 15 minutes.
