Materials:
- Video Camera
- Props
- Setting
Directions:
- With your kids, create an idea for a story. Write the story down. Try to keep it short, about 15 minutes to read out loud.
- Go through the script to check for any possible mistakes.
- You will operate the video camera. If a scene is dangerous, then you can help to make it safer. If something goes wrong, you'll be there to help fix it.
- With your kids, choose a setting that is safe and easy to get to. Backyards, neighborhood parks, and family rooms make excellent stages.
- Come up with ideas for props, for example simple household objects.
- Have the kids rehearse until they feel comfortable.
- Check the lighting, the camcorder, and get the kids into their costumes.
- Ready, set, action! Start filming! You've created your own family masterpiece!
