Serves 6-8

Ingredients:
•1 1/4 teasp. dry yeast
•3 Tablespoons warm water
•3 teasp. sugar
•1 3/4 cup flour
•1 1/2 teasp salt
•2/3 cup warm milk
•2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
•2/3 cup butter
•1 egg, beaten

Directions: Combine yeast, water and 1 teasp. sugar. Let stand until it bubbles. Dissolve remaining sugar and salt in warm milk. Blend into flour. Add yeast mixture and oil. Knead. Cover and let rise to three times its size. Punch down and let rise again to double. Punch down again and chill. After about 15 minutes, shape dough into a rectangle. Smear butter on top, leaving a 1/4 inch border without butter. Fold in thirds. Roll this into a rectangle and fold again. Refrigerate 2 hours. Punch down gently. Roll into a rectangle and fold. Repeat, and chill two more hours. Roll dough to a rectangle. Cut into 5x5 inch squares. Cut each square in half diagonally, to about 7 inches long. Roll up dough. Put on baking sheet in a slight curve. Let rise and glaze with egg. Bake 12 to 15 minutes in 475 degree Fahrenheit oven.
